The Last Waltz: Anniversary Celebration
Event Description
A Live Recreation of One of the Most Legendary Nights in Rock History Starring The Fried Crawdaddies with Live Horns and a Full Cast of Special Guests
This year marks the 48th Anniversary of the Historic farewell concert of The Band on November 25, 1976, at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco, CA. The concert saw the Band joined by an unparalleled lineup of superstars including Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Emmylou Harris, Dr. John, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Muddy Waters, Neil Diamond, The Staple Singers, and Eric Clapton, to name a few. The event was filmed by director Martin Scorsese and made into a documentary of the same name, released in 1978 which is heralded as one of the greatest concert films ever produced by humankind.
48 years later, The Blue Note is excited to present a LIVE recreation of this legendary night in rock history with no detail spared! Starring The Fried Crawdaddies as “The Band” with live horns and featuring hand-picked guest musicians performing the roles of each legend who joined The Band on stage that night as chronicled by Scorsese in the documentary film.
“This film should be played loud,” they said…and so we shall, LOUD AND LIVE.
